Marilyn Clark is a French/British photographer based in the forest of Fontainebleau, 50km outside of Paris. Best known for her black & white portraiture, she also explores nature. At a time where fast photography is overly present, Marilyn brings back subtleness and technique to the image as a form of art.
Her passion for photography started in the dark room at the age of 16 where she discovered and experimented with black and white. It is after a successful career in advertisement photography that her attention shifted to portraiture and nature. From fast paced Bangkok she moved back to Europe where she could put her matured ideas on art and life to practice.
Her lighting techniques refined as she formed a duo for years with the renown french photographer Albert Giordan. The creative and passionate team worked on many projects producing beauty, high end jewellery and nude photography for renowned brands, as well as continuously experimenting with personal artistic projects. Marilyn then decided to continue a solo career where her taste for visual elegance and sharp eye for detail could bloom independently.
Marilyn Clark cultivates an intense curiosity for people which naturally led her to portraiture.
As a refined and social person, Marilyn has built her reputation among artists and the international music scene. Artists such as Julian Lennon, Jorja Smith, Nina Kraviz, Metronomy or Foals have fallen for her black and white portraits, and her flair led to several album cover projects. While personalities from all horizons aspire to her work, she is equally productive in shooting for artistic, commercial and corporate projects. Her portraits have been published in magazines such as ZEIT, MILK, MixMag (UK, US, France, Japan), Marie Claire, Vogue, ELLE, The Guardian and Le Monde to name a few.
As a multi-talented photographer she also teaches and gives workshops, as she did at the prestigious ENSP photography school in Arles, France. (« Mastering Light » & « Mastering Portrait Photography » 2016 - 2017).
Today, she travels across the globe for special projects, establishing connections, while also settled and nurturing her creativity among a community of artists located in the forest of Fontainebleau.
