Marilyn Clark is a French/British self-taught photographer with a taste for elegance and grit.
Her career in photography started in Bangkok where she lived for 3 years and worked for a fast paced advertising agency. She then moved back to Europe where she started a collaboration with renown Beauty and Still Life photographer Albert Giordan. Based between Paris and London, the duo worked on Fine Art and Commercial photography projects in Beauty, Still Life and Fashion, while using highly technical studio lighting set-ups.
After a 4 year collaboration with Albert Giordan, Marilyn went on to establish her name as a Portrait and Fashion photographer while also working on FineArt Photography projects. Through her love for music she has made her name in the music world with her portraits and album covers. She has photographed Metronomy, Foals, Nina Kraviz, Jorja Smith, Billie Eilish, Two Feet and more...
After her first exhibition in Paris in 2018, Marilyn’s FineArt work was granted an award by the Black&White Spider Photography Awards, an international art prize honouring black & white photography.
Marilyn has given workshops at the ENSP Arles photography school, teaching 3rd year students the art of portraiture and light :
2016 – Ecole Nationale Superieure de la Photographie, Arles, “La Maîtrise du Portrait”
2017 – Ecole Nationale Superieure de la Photographie, Arles, “La Maîtrise de la Lumière”
”Being an artist is being curious. A never-ending journey of discovery,
while fighting to stay true to yourself in a world that is in constant movement and change.”
"When you work with Marilyn she is in a dream world yet entirely focused, which may sound like strange bedfellows but in fact this is exactly what works in her favour. To be in an ethereal place yet conversely razor-sharp provides that rare space where all the best photographers live, and Marilyn will get your true character in her photos. This makes what can be a flat two dimensional image into something wonderful and true with human depth and gravity. She is a master or portraiture. My number one choice since our first shoot."
